I grew up in Arlington — Key Elementary, Washington-Liberty, then business at Northern Virginia Community College. My grandfather was a real estate developer here, and he had me around the work from the time I was a kid. He taught me that property isn’t a quick trade. It’s a slow, patient way to take care of the people who come after you.
I started selling real estate at twenty-two. Over the years I watched the same thing happen again and again: a parent passes, the family home gets sold, the proceeds get split four ways, everyone takes a couple of nice vacations — and within a year the wealth a family spent decades building is simply gone. For most families, that house was their single biggest asset. And it disappeared because nobody had a plan to hold it.
I also got tired of watching how owners were treated by the big, comfortable property managers in the area. Tenants couldn’t reach them. Other agents couldn’t reach them. Owners certainly couldn’t. If clients knew how slow some of these companies really are, they’d be appalled.
So I built Legacy to do it differently — a hands-on broker who answers the phone, keeps the rent flowing, and acts as a steady third party so a family’s biggest asset stays in the family. Almost like a trust fund for the home you already own.
